Friends of Waterloo Meadows
Waterloo Meadows is located in the Katesgrove area of Reading, just off Elgar Road and next to the River Kennet, only a short walk from the town centre. The site features grassland, a wildflower meadow, bramble thickets, and small woodland areas. Along the riverbank, you’ll find alders and willows. In February 2013, a new community orchard was established there.

The Friends of Waterloo Meadows, formed in 1993, organise monthly tasks, typically on the third or fourth Sunday of each month, as well as alternate Tuesday evenings during late spring and summer.
New volunteers are always welcome. There’s no need to commit to regular attendance – you can join tasks whenever you’re available, or even for part of a task. No experience is required, training will be provided and task leaders are always on hand to offer guidance as necessary, and tools and gloves will be supplied.
Volunteers under the age of 18 years can only participate in Econet activities if accompanied by an appropriate adult (parent, guardian, social worker, teacher, etc.) responsible for their wellbeing and behaviour.
If you’re interested in volunteering with Friends of Waterloo Meadows, please complete our registration form or contact Mike Cox.
